Rebuild, Detox and Rebalance

Today, I’m sharing a deeply personal recipe — one that comes from a place of care, healing, and intention. As I write this, I’m just about to head to a colonoscopy appointment, and I’ve chosen to embrace this moment as a unique gift. My digestive system is clean, empty, and quiet – the perfect time to offer it something truly nourishing, gentle, and alive.
This Healing Energy Soup is my way of supporting my body after the cleanse. It’s inspired by Ann Wigmore (1909-1994), who believed that fresh, living food could be our most powerful medicine. I first tasted her version during my yoga teacher training, at a retreat that shaped not only how I eat, but how I live. It was there I also learned how to make rejuvelac, the enzyme-rich, fermented grain water that’s the base of this soup. (You can find my rejuvelac recipe here.)
While this version supports post-cleanse recovery, it’s also wonderful for anyone looking to detoxify, re-energize, and nourish the body deeply — whether you’re healing, balancing digestion, or simply looking for a light, vibrant meal. It’s full of raw, living ingredients that work in harmony to support your gut, immune system, and energy.
I used what I had on hand — all organic — including broccoli sprouts and alfalfa sprouts instead of sunflower greens. I also added fresh lime, ginger, and a generous amount of dulse for its ocean minerals and grounding flavor.
💚 My Healing Energy Soup
(Post-Cleanse & Everyday Detox Edition)
Ingredients for 3 portions:
- 1½-2 cups rejuvelac (see recipe here)
- 3 cups organic baby spinach
- 1 ripe avocado
- 2-3 organic apples, cored
- ½ cup organic broccoli sprouts
- ½ cup organic alfalfa sprouts
- Juice of 1 fresh lime
- 1 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled
- A small handful of dulse seaweed (see note below)

Instructions:
- Add all ingredients, including your pieces of dulse, to a high-speed blender.
- Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Taste and adjust: more lime for brightness, more apple for sweetness, or more rejuvelac if you want a thinner consistency.
- Serve immediately. Optionally, tear a few extra pieces of dulse on top before serving for added texture and flavor.

What Is Dulse? (And Why I Love It)

Dulse is a type of edible red seaweed, wild-harvested mostly in the North Atlantic. It’s naturally rich in iodine, iron, magnesium, and other trace minerals that support thyroid function, nervous system health, and detoxification.
I’ve always been a huge fan of seaweed — not just for its health benefits, but for the taste. I’ve often snacked on roasted seaweed sheets, but dulse has a special place in my kitchen. It has a slightly salty, umami, ocean-like flavor that I absolutely love.
For this recipe, I used whole pieces of dulse, not the flaked version. They come in soft, purplish-red strips and can be blended straight into the soup. If they feel too dry or chewy, you can soak them briefly in the rejuvelac before blending.
Tip for first-timers: If you’re not into the ocean taste of seaweed (yet!), start with a smaller amount, just a few small pieces. The flavor blends beautifully with the apple, lime, and ginger, but it’s okay to start light until your taste buds adjust.
Why This Soup Works – For Cleansing, Healing, and Daily Balance:
- Rejuvelac: Probiotic-rich, supports gut flora, digestion, and enzyme activity.
- Sprouts (broccoli + alfalfa): High in antioxidants, they help balance hormones and detox the body.
- Spinach: Delivers chlorophyll, iron, and folate to nourish blood and liver.
- Avocado: Soothes the digestive lining with healthy fats and fiber.
- Apples: Natural sweetness + gut-friendly pectin fiber.
- Lime & Ginger: Brighten the blend, support liver function, and ease inflammation.
- Dulse: Mineral-rich, grounding, and supportive for adrenal and thyroid health.
Whether you’re coming out of a cleanse, navigating a healing process, or simply craving something green and alive, this soup is a powerful act of nourishment.
✨ With love, sea minerals, and healing greens,
From my heart to your bowl
