
Now I need to make another batch of naturally fermented soda — the last one was absolutely delicious! But first, I have to wake up my ginger bug, which has been sleeping in the fridge.
Activating a Ginger Bug – Step by Step
Day 1: Fresh from the fridge
Time to bring it back to life! I feed it with:
- 1 tbsp organic ginger
- 1 tsp organic cane sugar
- 1/3 cup filtered water
Stir well, cover the jar with a breathable cloth and let it breath and let it sit at room temp.

Day 2: Tiny bubbles
A few bubbles are starting to show — it’s waking up! Another round of feeding.
Day 3: More bubbles!
It’s getting active! More bubbles, more fizz, and a sign that things are going well.
Day 4: Ready to use
Now it’s bubbling happily and smells slightly fermented — it’s alive and ready for brewing!
Keep feeding daily if you’re not using it right away or pop it back in the fridge until next time.
